Actress Kelly Monaco has played the character Sam in the long running television series General Hospital, for ten years now and she has spoken about how her character has developed over the years. General Hospital is now in its fiftieth year and Kelly says that she feels the show is irreplaceable.
During an interview with Zap2It, Monaco said, "I think she's come a long way. She's an amazing character with many different sides and layers. She has a family of her own, and she's lost family; she's led a very colorful life, and I can't wait to explore her more. Hopefully, daytime [drama] will stay around until I'm long gone."
She added, "What it means is that daytime dramas are still appreciated. People still want to see them. We aren't just replaceable with a show like 'The Revolution' or a cooking show or a reality show. That's not what the audience wants while they're vacuuming or getting on with their day. [Now online offerings,] 'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live' being brought back in any aspect is a testament to that."
As well as starring in General Hospital, Kelly Monaco also proved herself as a very good dancer, by winning the first season of the hit ABC show Dancing With The Stars. Kelly also returned for the all-star version of the reality series, which struggled to compete with the likes of The Voice in the ratings.
