Science proves that when women reach their mid thirties, their fertility begins to decline and the chances of conceiving a baby become much slimmer. It is also a fact that after the age of 35, there are more pregnancy complications, plus a 35% increase in miscarriage from the age of 40 to 44.
However, with that said, it seems that there are plenty of women in the entertainment industry these days, who are defying the odds and having a baby much later in life. More and more women are having babies in their 40s, with No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani the latest to join the club.
Gwen is 43 years old and already has two children, Kingston, 7 and Zuma, 5 and she has now confirmed that she is pregnant again. But she is just the latest in a long line of stars who have had babies in their 40s. Singer Madonna was 41 when she had a baby, as was Annette Benning.
Then there is Hollywood star Susan Sarandon, who was 47 when she gave birth, while Kelly Preston was 47. These women have proved that, if you take care of your body and look after yourself, then you can stretch the age limit of falling pregnant. Congratulations Gwen Stefani.
