The hit television series The X Factor has been a huge success in the UK since first hitting the screens over 10 years ago. The show is still going strong over there and continues to produce a number of new stars who go on to have very successful careers. The success led to The X Factor heading over seas, even hitting screens in the US.
When it was announced that Simon Cowell was bringing The X Factor to the US, talk soon turned to whether or not it could compete with the shows that were already airing in the US. The X Factor USA would have to compete with similar shows such as American Idol and The Voice and, unfortunately it could not hold its own and has now been cancelled.
Former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland was one of the judges on the last season of The X Factor USA and she has admitted that it was always going to be hard to compete with already established shows. Rowland explained, "You have to think about the fact there is American Idol, The Voice [and] all these new shows that are coming up."
While Simon Cowell will obviously be disappointed that The X Factor USA was cancelled, he will not be too worried, as he prepares to head back to the UK where he will return as a judge on the UK version for the first time in three years.
