Kesha hits out at sexism in the music industry

  • Kesha is one of those singers who loves to make their vies known publicly
  • She has claimed that there is an air of sexism in music
  • Kesha believes that woman should be able to sing about the same things as men
Die Young singer Kesha is renowned for being a bit of an extrovert and has never been one to shy away from speaking her mind. Now, Kesha has opened up about her views on the music industry, claiming that it can be sexist about what women can and can’t sing about.

Talking to the Financial Times weekend magazine, Kesha said, “If men can talk about drinking in every awesome rock 'n' roll song and every awesome rap song, why can't a woman? Just because I drink doesn't mean I'm a drunk. Just because I have sex, and I'm not embarrassed doesn't mean I'm a whore.”

She added, “If men can do it, why can't a woman do it? I really feel one of my main reasons for being on this earth is to level out the playing field just a little bit.” Kesha was then asked whether or not she would consider herself a feminist.

Kesha replied, “In some ways. In the ways that I feel I can do the same things men can do, and be just as rock 'n' roll and bad ass and not feel shameful or be shamed for it.”
