It has been reported that Kick-Ass 2 is set to begin filming this summer, as a script is almost complete and a new director is in place. Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar has confirmed that Kick-Ass 2 will definitely be going ahead this summer, along with his other movie American Christ, which is about the second coming of Jesus Christ.
Millar explained, "It is the reverse of the Omen, which is about a kid who finds out he is the anti-Christ. This is a kid who finds out he is Jesus Christ. We shoot Kick-Ass 2 and American Jesus this summer." It was thought that Kick-Ass 2 would struggle to be made, after the writing duo of the first Kick-Ass movie, Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn, could not commit to the sequel.
However, a new writer has been brought on board to develop a screenplay for Kick-Ass 2 and a new director has also been brought in. The new writer and director have yet to be named but the fact that Kick-Ass 2 is set to begin shooting this year is great news for Kick-Ass fans. It is expected that, with shooting beginning this summer, we could have Kick-Ass 2 sometime next year.
