Kirsten Dunst has played the iconic role of Mary Jane Watson in three Spider-man movies – the excellently received ‘Spider-man’ and ‘Spider-man 2’, and the less well received ‘Spider-man 3’. Of course, with the reboot, the role has changed hands and will now going to young ingénue Shailene Woodley in the sequels to ‘The Amazing Spider-man’.

In a recent interview with MTV while promoting her new film ‘On The Road’, Dunst opened up about the casting and whether she felt the character was in good hands.
And no worries, Spider-man fans, but she felt that Woodley would nail the part - she said, "I really like her too, a lot. I've met her a few times and we've talked about health foods, we know some of the same people, she's really into finding springs and natural water and she'll go get her water and things like that. I've done that before, and we've talked about that. I think she's a sweetheart and such a good actress. I'm happy. If I had to pick someone, I'm happy she's following in my shoes."

The role of Mary Jane is not set to be major in the second film, but is set to expand in the third film after the rumored death of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy. ‘The Amazing Spider-man 2’ is set to release on May 2nd, 2014.
