The first win in the battle of the Saturday night television ratings for the talent shows goes to "The Voice" thanks to Kylie Minogue. The star singer and recording artist recently joined the show instead of pursuing the opportunity to work for the rival "X Factor" talent show created by Simon Cowell and her presence made "The Voice" the overwhelming ratings winner for Saturday January 11, 2014.
Kylie flirted with the contestants, she got along well with her fellow judges and her presence brought a large amount of viewers to the show which is not a surprise as she has a huge following of fans. The 2014 year is starting off well for the Australian pop superstar and it will likely only get better as she has also recently become part of the "Roc Nation" label as she attempts to rejuvenate her music career under the guidance of a music label that also manages two other female superstars, Beyonce and Rihanna. When one looks at the success those two artists have enjoyed the past year one might not wish to bet against them being able to recharge the career of a superstar singer such as Kylie Minogue.
Sometimes arrogance can come back to haunt an individual or corporation and for both Simon Cowell and BBC, the home of "The Voice" this might become the situation. Simon Cowell it is rumoured never aggressively pursued Kylie Minogue to become one of the judges on his show and the BBC was able to acquire her judging services for a very low wage despite her past recording successes. Now, she has brought a new energy to the show and very attractive appearance and the fans of her music and the fans of the show have decided to support her in full force.
On her first night as a judge she helped "The Voice" obtain a record number of viewers as the ratings competition for the first night was not even close. If she continues to have such an impact on ratings she will be successful in sending the message to both Simon Cowell and BBC that one should never understimate the influence of Kylie Minogue because it can cost you money, and leave you at her mercy when contract negotiations begin the following year after one has finished wiping the egg of their face.
