The LA Clippers are reportedly making the Pacers power forward David West their number one priority in free agency. The 32-year-old Indiana Pacers power forward is becoming a free agent this offseason and it's unknown if he will be open to re-signing with the Pacers or try out other teams.
Current Clippers point guard Chris Paul, who is a former teammate of David West from their days playing together with the New Orleans Hornets, is reportedly pushing the Clippers front office to try and capture his good friend West. Rumor has it Paul wasn't very happy with how Blake Griffin performed in the first round of the playoffs against the Memphis Grizzlies which led to the team being eliminated.
According to ESPN the Clippers might just target West once his team is eliminated from the playoffs: "The Pacers' veteran leader openly loves his situation in Indiana, which certainly gives Indy justified cause for optimism when it comes to re-signing the 32-year-old this summer. Yet the whispers are already swirling that Chris Paul's Los Angeles Clippers, in particular, are going to make a hard run at West in the offseason."
Cap space would be a issue for the LA based team as they can only offer west a $5.15 million mid-level exception which would be considered as a not so lucrative deal for a player who has been a All-Star in the past two seasons with the Pacers.
