Downhill skiing star Lara Gut once again proved that she is one of the best in the business, as she beat another strong field to the World Cup super-G in Lake Louise. While Lara enjoyed victory at the Alberta resort, Lindsey Vonn finished in fifth but insists that she was happy with her performance.
Vonn stated, "I'm so happy. Every day it got better. For sure I made some mistakes. But I'm like in top-level. I'm so very happy about this weekend. I'm sure I can win. I have to take more risks at the top. I need to ski more. In my head I know I can do it, it's just a question of time."
At the age of just 22, Lara Gut is showing huge potential on the downhill skiing scene, winning four out of eight races this season. Lara beat Tina Weirather by 0.03secs, while Austrian Anna Fenninger came in third a further 0.30sec behind.
Lara Gut is having a great time of things at the moment, leading in the overall standings, where she has now opened up a gap on German star Maria Hoefl-Riesch, who did not have the best of events in the super-G, making a very costly mistake towards the end of her run.
