Much like a first kiss, everybody remembers their first DirtyBird BBQ. It's great that the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) is a massive outdoor venue, or else its roof would have ruptured from the simultaneous flow of bass drops and euphoric energy created at the booming food/EDM party!
The huge party, presented by DirtyBird and Collective Zoo, was like no other event previously held within the popular downtown venue. DLVEC loves its "firsts" so much that it has become a chameleon venue; constantly transforming itself to successfully accommodate any type of gathering (concerts, festivals, boxing, action sports, etc.). This time, DirtyBird BBQ inspired the venue to offer lavish cabanas, which seemed to be constructed and sold-out at the same time!
The biggest reason for the cabanas' success was quite possibly the enormous swimming pool resting in front of them. That's right- DLVEC created a pool specifically for the event (another first). Vegas' 90 degree heat suddenly felt comfortable with so many cold options- whether it be the pool, drinks, rotating sprinklers, or the colorful inflatable water slide! Then there were the girls in bikinis and lifeguards to oversee the pool. It was like a scene right out of the new Baywatch movie.
In case it still isn't clear, DirtyBird BBQ was no average party. Guests walked through the entrance dressed in their best rave attire, some clothed in what seemed like nothing but a couple of rhinestones and a smile. The crowd watched and listened to ear-pleasing sets by top DJS including Claude Vonstroke, Justin Martin, Eats Everything, Shiba San, Ciszak, and Dateless! Accompanying the stellar music lineup was a just-as-amazing list of vendors featuring some of Vegas' best BBQ food trucks and restaurants!
A surprise addition to the stage was DLVEC owner, Derek Stevens! The well-respected downtown figure, dressed in a custom-made, brightly striped suit jacket, stole the spotlight before it even found him. The crowd went wild as he welcomed everybody to the crazy (in the best way) party and invited them to the after-party, which was taking place across the street at the D Casino Hotel's world famous LONGBAR.
It still doesn't seem real. The immensely popular food/EDM event coming together with the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center? Jam-packed with love, light, and music, it wouldn't be surprising if DLVEC also held a few firsts for guests visiting their first-ever DirtyBird BBQ.
