Laura Ponte is similar to most women in that she wants to remember all the good things about her wedding and honeymoon and that is how she is preferring to remember the 'Concordia' on which she enjoyed her honeymoon.
The luxury cruise ship was a floating city bigger than the Titanic filled with restaurants, swimming pools and casinos. One could not ask for a better place to enjoy their honeymoon, one of the most special events in a person's life. She and her husband celebrated their honeymoon on the cruise and now when they look back they are the fortunate ones as they experienced a safe cruise.
However, now her husband is returning to the ship but in very different circumstances as he is part of a team that will be dismantling the wrecked ship.
She remembers the ship as being one of incredible luxury such that one felt like they never wanted to get off the ship ever again. The beautiful model/designer kept all her souvenirs, a model of the ship, daily schedules, receipts, tickets, photos with Coast Concordia logos. People have contacted her with offers to sell but she has no intention of selling any of these items.
For her, knowing that the ship is about to be dismantled is "similar to losing a friend who one prefers to remember as dynamic and enthusiastic." At one point she remembers her husband and her joking during an emergency evacuation rehearsal on the first night of their cruise at how unlikely that anything could happen to the ship.
The new creative director for Hoss Intropia and her husband admit that it will be a challenge to overcome the reality that the place where they enjoyed one of the best weeks of their lives is no longer but if Laura Ponte has any say, they are going to remember the good memories of the Concordia.
