There are certain movie franchises which seem to go on and on, and just when you think that the franchise is finally coming to an end, they manage to find a way to pull yet another sequel out of the bag, stetching the run even further. That has certainly been the case with the horror movie franchise Saw, which looked like it was all over when the lead character Jigsaw had died, but that was clearly not the case.
After seven instalments of the Saw franchise, it really did look like the movies had finished, with some people even suggesting that a reboot would be the next step. However, Saw has managed to find a way to keep the franchise alive, despite the death of Jigsaw, with the new eighth instalment, which is titled Saw: Legacy, set to hit the big screen later in the year.
One of the good things about the Saw franchise, is probably the fact that so many characters get killed off in one movie, that they need to cast new stars for the next instalment. Saw: Legacy sees the beautiful and talented Laura Vandervoort joining the cast, and it will be interesting to see whether she will manage to survive to the final credits.
For the people who would like to know more about what we can expect from this latest instalment, Saw: Legacy has been described as, "Dead bodies begin to turn up all over the city, each meeting their demise in a variety of grisly ways. All investigations begin to point the finger at deceased killer John Kramer."
Saw: Legacy is set to hit the big screen on October 20 in the UK, before then opening in the US on October 27.
