It is fair to say that the men in the entertainment industry do still have it a lot easier than the women in the business and, while the gap has closed between the sexes on a professional sense, there are still always going to be more people who are critical of women. There is always a lot of pressure on women in the entertainment industry to look good at all times, to reduce the risk of being ridiculed.
One of the ways that women try to make themselves look great is by taking up diets and working out to get themselves in shape. Singer LeAnn Rimes knows exactly what it is like to have your weight spoken about in the press, as she has had to deal with it for many years. Now, LeAnn has opened up about it, admitting that it has never been easy and it has never been nice.
Rimes told Fox411, "For women in an industry that picks you apart and a society now that has really turned to picking people apart to make themselves feel better-- which is really sad-- it seems to be less of building people up and more tearing people down. But, you know, I don’t do it for anyone else. I do it for my health. Obviously, looking healthy is in my mind, always."
She added, "Number one, I’m a woman, but obviously it’s magnified more for me, but I think the more I made it about my health and not how I look, it makes it more fun. It makes it easier to do. It makes you want to get up and take care of yourself. That’s just something I’ve found, for me, over the past couple of years. It just changed the way I look at fitness. Just get out and enjoy something physical."
