LeBron James is generally regarded throughout the world of professional basketball as the best player in the world but he is also a very focused businessman who has not hidden his desire to expand his brand into the world of film and entertainment.
In what has to be considered a very calculated move to avoid as much scrutiny as possible the public relations people who work for the basketball star recently made it public that he has signed with William Morris Endeavor (WME) for his representation for film and entertainment projects. The news release came in the midst of the NBA playoffs and just a day after an opponent was fined over $20,000 for striking LeBron James in the neck in their last game. The media focus has been on the playoffs but this signing is hugely important for what it represents about his entertainment future.
His signing with this prominent agency is a sign that he is very serious about expanding his entertainment brand into scripted content. He already has several CAA projects in process such as the Starz series "Survivor's Remorse" and the movie "Ballers" with Kevin Hart.
LeBron James is known as being an exceptionally loyal friend and the fact that he is taking the entertainment and film projects portfolio to WME for them to buid and thus putting them in charge of finding scripts and projects for him is a major development that cannot be overstated.
The deal with WME was negotiated by LeBron James' longtime business manager Maverick Carter and lawyer Matt Johnson.
LeBron James has put himself in position with this new representation deal to become a star on the big screen and become an even more dominant entertainment figure.
