27 year old former Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he has been very pleased with how the new 2012 McLaren has been handling during testing. The 2012 McLaren is the only car on the grid that has opted against going for the new stepped nose but Lewis does not seem to think that it has left them at any sort of disadvantage.

Hamilton explained, "The car behaves well in the high-speed corners. The baseline of our car is higher than last year, and it's better overall at high speed. To have completed more than 1,000 kilometres in the past two days is incredibly encouraging. The whole team should feel proud. It's been an extremely productive few days, and I think Jenson Button will continue to improve the car.”
He added, "Now I'm just looking forward to the final test [in Barcelona from March 1-4]. It's where you get a really good feeling of where the car will be. It's also exciting because it's the last stop before the first race." The first race of the 2012 Formula One World Championship will take place in Melbourne, Australia between March 16 and March 18.
