It has been suggested that 27 year old McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton could leave the team at the end of the season, if he is not in a title challenging position this season. Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone claims that he can see both Lewis Hamilton becoming disillusioned at McLaren and the team becoming frustrated with Hamilton, if he fails to perform this season.
Ecclestone explained, "I think if he doesn't perform this year he'll be looking maybe to move on, and the team may also be looking for him to move on." At the end of the coming season, there will be seats available at a number of teams, including Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton could see a move to a rival team too good to turn down.
He added, "I spoke to him [Hamilton] the other day and I think he's a bit more focused but I don't agree with the people he's got surrounding him and so-called managing him. I think he doesn't need that sort of management. It's a people's job. They don't have to know about technical issues, someone who if you've a problem you can talk to the guy. His dad [Anthony] was good, wasn't he? His dad was the right person."
