Musical artist Lily Allen was named the Best Solo Artist at the 2014 NME Awards and this win lets the world know that the comeback for this controversial, outspoken recording artist is complete. To win this award the talented UK recording artist defeated legendary singers Sir Paul McCartney and David Bowie as well as Lorde, Jake Bugg and one of her favourite artists, Kanye West.
Over the past year Lily Allen has released two songs, "Hard Out Here" which addressed the issues of body image and misogyny within the entertainment industry and her cover of Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know" for the Christmas advertisement. The Keane song reached number one on the UK Singles chart and in the process became the proof to the music world that Lily Allen, the talented pop music artist was once again capable of producing great music.
Lily Allen and Kanye West are very similar in personalities in that they are unafraid to express their opinions and say things that many people may think but are usually too tactful or reserved to say. This might be the reason why Lily Allen has decided to name her next album "Sheezus" as a tribute to Kanye West's album "Yeezus".
In 2013 the song "Hard Out Here" which reached number nine on the UK Singles chart and "Somewhere Only We Know", the number one song provided Lily Allen with the impressive accomplishment of having two songs as simultaneous top 10 singles. In January 2014 Lily Allen premiered the song "Air Balloon" on BBC radio and announced she will be releasing the song in March 2014 as well as performing at the 2014 Glastonbury Festival.
Sometimes society says it can handle the truth and different opinions but when it is provided by a young, outspoken artist who does not talk softly often times people have difficulty dealing with it. Lily Allen is an artist that people may at times have difficulty dealing with but her music is definitely something that the music industry needs more of.
