Lily Collins may have been known only as Phil Collins' daughter a couple of years ago, but she's certainly changed all that with a few years in Hollywood. She's landed some very big roles, including 'Mirror Mirror' and the highly anticipated 'The Mortal Instruments: The City of Bones'.
Lily covers the latest issue of Glamour Magazine, and one of the topics she discusses is getting 'accepted' in Hollywood and doing it on her own. When she first started out, there was a lot of talk about Phil Collins getting her an agent and helping her land roles. According to Lily, she never once asked her father or anyone else to make calls on her behalf.
She explains, "I always wanted to do it on my own. I never wanted anyone making phone calls. A name can open doors, but there’s a quote I like: 'Personality can open doors, but only character can keep them open.'" However, that's not to say that her dad had nothing to do with her career. Lily has previously revealed that he has been nothing but supporting from the sidelines, and he's stood by her through all of her decisions.
Lily Collins will next be seen alongside Kristen Bell, Jennifer Connelly, and Greg Kinnear in 'Stuck In Love', and then she will next be seen alongside Jamie Campbell Bower in this fall's 'The Mortal Instruments: The City of Bones'.
