Mean Girls actress Lindsay Lohan has revealed her joy at her new movie The Canyons finally getting the chance to shine on the big screen. It was thought that The Canyons would be a straight to DVD movie, after being rejected by a number of film festivals. However, lfc Films have now taken a chance on Lindsay Lohan and The Canyons and will release the movie in cinemas this summer.
Lohan took to her official Twitter account to tell her followers, "Yay! For The Canyons and thank you to Ifc!!!!" The Canyons is an erotic thriller, penned by American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis, who was equally as pleased to see the movie getting a release.
Ellis added a statement, which read, "Finally the movie will be able to be seen and viewers can judge for themselves rather than relying on the undeservedly snarky press The Canyons has received so far... The Canyons, regardless of what you think of it, is an example of the next step in what will now be the future of post-theatrical feature-length content."
Many people feel that The Canyons received unfair criticism from those who have seen it, due to the fact that Lindsay Lohan was attached to the project. The Canyons has been directed by Paul Schrader and will be released in both the US and the UK in the Summer.
