Charlie’s Angels actress Lucy Liu recently took a break from acting to focus on her work as an artist. Lucy took the time to paint a number of abstract black-and-white illustrations, which she has compiled together in a book titled Lucy Liu: Seventy Two, which she released last month.
Lucy has revealed that her inspiration behind the paintings is the chart of 72 names of God in the Kabbalah, a mystical branch of Judaism.

She explained, “I felt drawn to the chart because I thought it was so fascinating. I love the way they categorise everything into boxes, I love the organisation of that.”
Liu added, “The book is about sharing, but you don’t want to be intrusive or invasive to other people. I did grow up believing there is something greater than we are, and I think that’s that I tapped in to.” Lucy Liu: Seventy Two is available to buy, now.
