There has been a lot of talk recently about possible Marvel movies, that are still in the development stages, finally coming to life and hitting the big screen. However, Marvel are believed to be a company that work on one movie at a time and with the list of Marvel sequels already stacking up, it seems that we may never get to see any of these second string superheroes.
One such hero is Luke Cage. Now there has been talk of a Luke Cage movie going on for a number of years now, with the first script being penned way back in 2004. Since then there has been more drafts of the script and more rewrites, which we believe are still ongoing and it is a shame because there are so many actors around at the moment who would perfect for the role of Luke Cage.
There were once rumours that NFL wide receiver Isaiah Mustafa was set to play Luke Cage, as well as Ving Rhames and even Tyrese Gibson. Then, last year, Idris Elba through his name into the pot by declaring an interest in the role and there has even been talk of Jamie Foxx. The problem is, the script seems to be taking an eternity to pen and then there is the fact that Marvel have this one movie at a time rule.
With all that said, it could end up being a number of years before we realistically get to see any real development in the Luke Cage movie and by that time, these actors could be a bit past there sell by date. It is a shame because we think Idris Elba would make a great Luke Cage and we would love to see a Luke Cage movie hit the big screen. Here’s hoping. One day, maybe just.
