It has been confirmed that filming for the fourth instalment of the Mad Max franchise is set to get underway in April 2012. That is as long as the weather allows them to, as most of the scenes will be shot outdoors. Mad Max: Fury Road will be the first of the Mad Max movies to not star Mel Gibson.
It is believed that The Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner was desperate to be cast as the role of Mad Max before it was eventually given to Tom Hardy. It is also believed that James Frecheville auditioned for a part in the movie but was unsuccessful, although it is not known what role he auditioned for.
The last Mad Max movie that was released was the Mel Gibson portrayed, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, which was a staggering twenty-six years ago. As well as Tom Hardy, Mad Max: Fury Road will also star Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult. It is believed that the movie will be released sometime in 2013.
