Mad Men actor Jon Hamm has revealed how he spent many years struggling to make it as an actor so had to take a number of different jobs along the way, including one in the porn industry. While trying to find acting work, Jon was given the job as a set designer on porn films, a job that he did not exactly enjoy but he admitted that the money did help.
Hamm explained, "Let me just say, there was no penetration, it was soft-core porn. Essentially, I had to move furniture around sweaty, naked people. It wasn't a great job but the money was useful. I had to get by, I wanted to be an actor." Jon spent around five years trying to make it as an actor and had other jobs that included teaching, waiting and bartending.
Jon Hamm admits that he nearly gave up, adding, "It was bleak, that was part of a three-year period where I had been solely rejected. It's hard, it's no fun, you have self-doubt and bitterness creeps in. I had given myself until my 30th birthday, I moved out to LA when I was 25 and I figured if I can't make it in five years of trying, then it's time to pack up. I got it just under the wire!" Mad Men season five is set to premiere on March 25.
