While it is fair to say that Mallika Sherawat has had a fairly successful acting career in Bollywood over the years, it is also fair to say that she has also been involved in plenty of controversy along the way. Now it looks like Mallika has once again put her foot in it, which has this time led to her missing out on a movie role.
It was thought that Mallika Sherawat was the favourite to land the lead role in the movie A Little Heaven In Me but it has now been confirmed that she has missed out on the role. Director Keshav Panneiry has revealed his reasons behind the decision not to cast Mallika, claiming that some of her views did not sit right with him.
Keshav released a statement saying, "The main reason we refrained from casting Mallika was that her thought process didn't match the subject of our film, since she had given the statement that 'India is a regressive and depressive nation for women'. Our film shows the positive side and fighting spirit of Indian women, and her screen and public image didn't go with the character of the film."
Instead of seeing Mallika Sherawat in the lead role, we will now see relative unknown Pragya Jaiswal star in the movie A Little Heaven In Me. Keshav Panneiry says he decided to move away from a big name actress and instead find a new up and coming talent, holding auditions for the role, before eventually settling on Pragya.
