It has been reported that Manchester United could be set to lose two of their up and coming prospects to their local rivals Manchester City. Talk of Paul Pogba not signing a new contract at Old Trafford has been going on for quite some time and, while a number of foreign clubs are interested in the French midfielder, it seems that he could be set to sign for Manchester City when his contract runs out this summer.
Now it appears that another Manchester United player, 18 year old English midfielder Ravel Morrison, could also be set to head to Manchester City. It is believed that, if Ravel Morrison signs for Manchester City, the big spending club would have to pay Manchester United just £300,000 in compensation. Pocket change compared to the money they have been spending.
It seems strange that two very talented players would turn their backs on the club that has brought them up to this stage of their careers, especially since they are both on the verge of breaking in to the first team. However, that is the sorry state of football these days, where loyalty does not exist and young players have their heads turned by big money. Whether or not Ravel Morrison and Paul Pogba sign for Manchester City remains to be seen but they both seem set to leave Manchester United in the near future.
