It seems that it does not matter what season of The X Factor you are on, you are always going to bump heads with another former X Factor wannabe and that is exactly what has happened to Marcus Collins. Marcus released his cover of The White Stripes track Seven Nation Army as his first single and his decision to release a cover did not go down to well with Cher Lloyd.
Collins explained, “Everyone had their opinions on it and Cher’s opinion was just a little bit strong and I thought that maybe because she’d been in this situation that she’d know how difficult it is and how important it is. She said why hasn’t he been in the studio writing? I have, I’ve written three quarters of the album and all of those originals are the best of an even bigger amount of originals that we’ve done.”
He added, “I’ve got my favourite one lined up if it goes well and I get to do a second single. I know what I want to do and it’s an original.” It seems that Cher Lloyd is trying to make as many enemies in the music industry as she can, as she recently criticised her X Factor mentor Cheryl Cole for her inability to sing live. However she has since back tracked and issued an apology to the Girl’s Aloud star.
