Mariah Carey has just announced her departure from American Idol, and she's reportedly in talks to play the role made famous by Marilyn Monroe in the iconic 'Some Like It Hot' remake.
Marilyn starred opposite Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in 'Some Like It Hot' in 1959, and Mariah is supposedly very interested in playing Monroe's role. Mariah's always been a big fan of Marilyn Monroe, so this doesn't come as too much of a surprise.
A source close to Mariah explained, "Some Like It Hot was Mariah’s favourite film when she was growing up. There have been some initial discussions and the producers think she’s a natural successor to play Marilyn’s role." The source adds, "She’s got a fantastic sense of humour, is looking incredible at the moment and has acted before so it’s a great fit. She’s putting the final touches to her latest album and has just finished filming American Idol so there should be more talks shortly.”
Mariah Carey first made her big-screen debut in 2001 with 'Glitter', and she's also made recent appearances in 2009's 'Precious', and the upcoming 'The Butler'. Do you guys think Mariah Carey would be able to do justice to the role in 'Some Like It Hot'? Let us know what you think in the comments.
