New AC Milan signing Mario Balotelli has urged Manchester City not to sack Roberto Mancini. Despite being under a lot of criticism from the media and fans, Roberto Mancini has heard only support from his former striker. The two of them didn't have the best of relationships when Balotelli was at Etihad but the Italian striker has had a change of heart.
The former City striker said of his fellow Italian: “There is nobody better for City. Most importantly, the players like him.”
The pressure is on Mancini after a abismal performance in the Champions League, where City went out in the group stage, and as well as the performance in the Premier League where they are second with 12 points behind rivals Manchester United.
Yet Balotelli added: “If you asked who they want next season, every single player would say Roberto. He’s not just their coach but also their friend.”
The 22-year old Italian striker transferred to Milan for £19 million last month.
But he believes Mancini is owed more time by billionaire owner Sheikh Mansour.
He said: “Look at the success Roberto has had — the FA Cup and a first championship in over 40 years. Even Alex Ferguson does not win a trophy every year — but he always comes back.”
