Since it was announced that Disney were pushing ahead with Star Wars: Episode 7, there have been all sorts of rumours flying around. It was almost instant claimed that Mark Hamill would appear as Luke Skywalker for the film but now the actor has hinted that he may not be playing the character.
Speaking to E! UK at the premiere of his new movie Sushi Girl, Hamill explained, “We have questions about it and really, they're not even at the stage where they're able to answer those questions because, as far as I know, is there a story yet?”
He added, “Until I know more about what they have in mind, I think it's better to let LucasFilm make the announcements. If they were going to do a story where Luke was too young or too old for me to play, they would get an age appropriate actor. There's so many good people.”
And he’s not wrong. There are a number of hugely talented actors that would be able to play either a younger or older Luke Skywalker and we would love to see a new cast have a go at the iconic roles. Star Wars: Episode 7 is currently aiming for a 2015 release date.
