It seems that every actor and actress on the planet would love a role in the new Star Wars movies, including The Avengers star Mark Ruffalo, who has opened up about his desire for a role in the franchise. While J.J. Abrams is directing Star Wars: Episode VII, Rian Johnson will take the reins for Star Wars: Episode VIII and Mark has asked Rian for a role in the movie.
Ruffalo was chatting to the guys over at Collider, when he told them, "Desperately. My e-mail to Rian after all these years was, 'Rian, congratulations on everything you’ve been doing. And by the way, if there’s a part in Star Wars, please, anything, please consider considering me to join you.'"
While you would expect a Hollywood superstar with the reputation of Mark Ruffalo to have one of the bigger roles in any movie, it seems that he would not be too fussed about the size of the role he could land for Star Wars: Episode VIII. Mark even admitted that he would be fine with doing just a CGI role.
Ruffalo added, "Possibly, depending on timing. I love hanging out with Rian so that’s interesting to me but I would like a role. It’d be nice to have something. And honestly, even a CGI role. I am thrilled about motion capture. It’s been a journey for me to get there."
Mark Ruffalo will be seen in his CGI role as the Hulk in the Marvel movie sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron, which will open on April 24, 2015 in the UK and May 1, 2015 in the US. Meanwhile, Star Wars: Episode VII will hit the big screen on December 18, 2015 in both the US and the UK, before Rian Johnson takes over for Star Wars: Episode VIII.
