Martin Freeman is a name that most people in the UK will be aware of but he is by no means a worldwide, household name. That is all about to change, as Martin is set to appear as Bilbo Baggins in the Peter Jackson movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Martin has admitted that, while he is prepared for the amount of fame he is about to encounter, he is not really a fan of it.
Freeman explained, "I have had ten years to prepare since The Office but we were on holiday recently and I realised that maybe this time next year there won't be many places where I can go where The Hobbit won't have been seen. It's a funny thing and I have a troubled relationship with that sort of stuff."
Martin Freeman almost missed out on the chance to appear in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, as he had to turn down the role due to his commitments to the BBC television series Sherlock. However, Peter Jackson was so desperate to have Matin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins that he changed around the shooting schedule to get him on board. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is set to hit the big screen on December 14, 2012.
