Irish movie star Martin McCann has seen himself become one of the top British actors in the industry in recent years and he has spoken about getting his big chance. Martin's big break came in the movie Closing the Ring and Martin has thanked Richard Attenborough for taking the chance on him.
During a recent interview with IFTN, McCann explained, "My first big job was the Richard Attenborough film 'Closing the Ring'. I was 21 and doing mostly local theatre since leaving school at 18. I was playing 'Alex' in a stage adopted version of 'A Clockwork Orange' in Belfast."
He added, "They were casting for the film and I was lucky enough to have one of the producers from the film in the audience. I auditioned for Richard Attenborough and he took a chance and gave me the role. I had a very limited screen experience before this."
Martin McCann can next be seen on the big screen, starring alongside Sam Hazeldine, Sam Reid and David Wilmot in the movie 71. Yann Demange directs 71, based on the script from Gregory Burke, with filming currently underway and a release date planned for 2014.
