While Marvel have been dominating on the big screen, bringing us many different and impressive movies over the past few years, they are now trying to take their dominance of the movie scene, and become a force within the series format. Over the coming years Marvel are bringing us a number of characters to series with Netflix and one of the most exciting of these has to be Daredevil.
Despite the huge flop that was the Daredevil movie, Marvel are confident that Netflix is the ideal place to bring the character to series and Joe Quesada has been talking about the advantages of that. Joe insists that the Daredevil series is going to be different to the usual Network TV series format that we see all the time.
Quesada explained, "One of the advantages is really from the planning stage -- obviously it's much easier to work with a smaller number of episodes than it is with a larger number of episodes. I can sit there and look at 13 episodes and plan it out as a very large movie. It makes seeing the bigger picture a little bit easier."
Joe Quesada also addressed the fact that the whole series will land on Netflix all at once and that there would be plenty of hardcore fans watching the Daredevil series in one sitting. This has given them the opportunity to do something a little different, which Joe believes is a bonus for them.
He added, "You can't deny that there will be binge-viewing. You know that there are going to be some Marvel fans that when this show premieres, they are going to go on to Netflix, and they are going to sit there for 12 to 13-plus hours, and watch the entire thing all the way through. It's going to happen. The Netflix model offers us the advantage of being able to construct the show in a manner that is very different than a weekly network TV show."
There have already been plenty of rumours about who will play the lead role in the Netflix series Daredevil, with many suggesting Michael C. Hall should play the role. We have a feeling that they will go for a younger actor but we will just have to wait and see.
Who do you think should play the lead role in the Daredevil series?
