There has been a lot of talk about a new Ghostbusters movie for many years now but, while most fans were eager to see a Ghostbusters 3 being made, with the original guys making a return, we instead have an all-female reboot of the franchise. Actress Melissa McCarthy plays one of the lead roles in the new Ghostbusters film and, following a number of complaints from fans around the world, Melissa has decided to hit back at the critics in a rather funny way.
McCarthy was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, along with the rest of the Ghostbusters old and new, when she said of the haters, "Terrific fellas! What they don’t say when they’re typing is that one minute after they type their mom is like, 'Get upstairs and take out the garbage! You’re 45 years old!'"
As for the old guys, Dan Aykroyd said, "We're really, really happy. These women performers are great and all the guys in the movie are just fine too," while Bill Murray added, "There is no quit in these girls. This is a tough movie to pull off because it’s a big concept, there’s a lot on the plate, there’s a lot of expectation. (We) were screaming, cheering like we were at a sporting event."
As well as starring Melissa McCarthy, the rest of this new, all-female Ghostbusters cast includes the likes of Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon. Paul Feig has directed the movie, which is set to hit the big screen on July 11 in the UK and on July 15 in the US.
