When it was announced that a Fantastic Four reboot was being made, there were plenty of optimistic fans about the project, with the comic book fans suggesting which actors should be cast in the movie. When the official casting was finally announced, there were a lot of disgruntled fans, especially over the fact that Michael B. Jordan had been cast as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch.

After hearing of the disappointment from the fans, Michael B. Jordan insisted that, as long as comic book legend Stan Lee was happy with the casting, then he did not have a problem. Well, Stan has now addressed the casting issue and he has given his backing to Michael, who he thinks will be great as The Human Torch in the Fantastic Four reboot.

Lee was asked by Entertainment Weekly about the casting choice, to which he responded, "It was more than okay, I thought it was a great idea! They’re outraged not because of any personal prejudice. They’re outraged because they hate to see any change made on a series and characters they had gotten familiar with."

He added, "In Spider-Man, when they got a new actor, that bothered them, even though it was a white actor. I don’t think it had to do with racial prejudice as much as they don’t like things changed. But I think they’re gonna get to love this character. So I’m not the least bit worried about it. I always tried to pepper these groups with as much racial diversity as possible because that’s the way the world is."

As well as seeing Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch, Fantastic Four will also see Kate Mara as Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman, Miles Teller as Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm aka The Thing. Fantastic Four has been directed by Josh Trank and is set to hit the big screen on August 7.
