When it comes to the release of movies based on video games, it is fair to say that there have been more projects that have been flops, than those that have been successful, so it is still quite surprising that there are still so many video games being adapted for the big screen. One of the upcoming video game projects coming to the movie screen, is that of Assassin's Creed, which already has high hopes for its big release.
Hollywood superstar Michael Fassbender is taking on the lead role in the Assassin's Creed movie, and it seems that there is already a lot of positivity surrounding the film, even before we have seen it hit the big screen. There is so much promise for Assassin's Creed, that there has already been talk of the studio moving ahead with the sequel, even before seeing how this first film fairs at the box office.
There is no denying that the Assassin's Creed video games have been a huge success and have a huge fanbase around the world, so it is possible that this first movie could make a lot of money just from these fans wanting to see it on the big screen. The success of a sequel will be determined by the success of the first film though, so already pushing ahead with a sequel is a very bold move indeed.
As well as seeing Michael Fassbender starring in Assassin's Creed, we are also going to see Marion Cotillard, Michael K. Williams, and Jeremy Irons, among others. Assassin's Creed has been directed by Justin Kurzel and will hit the big screen on December 21 in the US, before then getting its big release in the UK on December 30.
