Michael Fassbender's career has been red hot these past couple of years, culminating in his critically acclaimed performances in 'Shame' and 'Prometheus'. Now, while he's prepping for the sequel to 'X-Men: First Class', which will be called X-Men: Days of Future Past, he has officially signed on to 'Jane Got a Gun' with Natalie Portman. Portman will play the lead, a woman who's getting chased by a gang, and Fassbender will play her ex-lover who helps her out in her time of need.
Anything Portman's attached to at this point has an immediate spike in interest, as she's pretty much had pick of scripts after she won an Oscar for 'Black Swan'. However, Fassbender's name has also been attached to another hotly contested role in the past few months: Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation. Many fans have lined up to list him as their dream actor to play Christian Grey, and his name is one of the biggest being thrown about for the role. However, the Mail has asked him about the rumors, and he has replied that he will not, as he hasn't even read the book.

‘I haven’t even read the book,’ says the 35-year-old Irish-German actor, who bravely stripped for a controversial sex scene in the movie Shame.
‘You get your privates out and people assume you are some sex maniac.’
It is definitely true that one of the biggest reasons Fassbender has been fanncasted in this role is because of the book's extensive display of nudity from both of the main characters. However, it now seems that Fassbender has crossed himself off the list. Many legitimate reporters are also saying that well-known actors will not want to be involved with this adaption, but that may not be true. It has been confirmed that the film will focus more on the love story and less on the BDSM aspects of the novel. The producers of the film are also well regarded producers, and have made critically acclaimed films in the past, most notably 'The Social Network'. It doesn't seem that unlikely that they will get esteemed actors to play the two lead roles.
