So it is fair to say that everybody who is a movie fan will be looking forward to the 2014 Oscars this weekend and we are pretty sure that everybody will also have an opinion on who they think will win which of the awards. Every category is very close this year and it is quite difficult to make a decision on a few of them, especially the Best Actor in a Supporting Role category.
One of the actors who has been nominated in the Best Actor in a Supporting Role category is British star Michael Fassbender for his performance in the hit movie 12 Years a Slave. The 86th Academy Awards will be a very special evening for Michael whether he wins or not, as it is his first ever Oscar nomination, which is always an enjoyable, if nerve wracking thing, although we have no doubt that he will receive plenty more in the future.
When you take into account the fact that it is the first Oscar nomination that Michael Fassbender has received, you could be forgiven for thinking that he will be overlooked as he will have other opportunities in the future. However, this year's Best Actor in a Supporting Role category is a very inexperienced group of actors, in terms of Oscar nominations. Out of the five actors, there have only been two nominations in the past.
Michael Fassbender gets his first nomination for 12 Years a Slave, Barkhad Abdi gets his first nomination for Captain Phillips, and Jared Leto gets his first nomination for Dallas Buyers Club. Meanwhile, Bradley Cooper was nominated for Silver Linings Playbook last year and is nominated for American Hustle this year, while Jonah Hill was nominated for Moneyball in 2012 and is nominated for The Wolf of Wall Street this year.
Who do you want to win the award?
