Michael Jordan has become one of Forbes' newest billionaires after her increased his ownership stake in his NBA franchise, the Charlotte Hornets to almost 90%. The financial figures make him now worth 1 billion dollars but for fans it provides hope that his team will soon be as successful on the court as he has become off the court.

The Charlotte Hornets are an NBA franchise whose success has been limited on the court and while there have been no fears expressed about Michael Jordan moving the team the fact that it has increased in value to the point that it has helped him become a billionaire gives fans confidence that he will not sell the team to anyone.
A stable franchise with committed ownership is a must to attracting the top free agents who have been reluctant in the past to join this NBA franchise even with Michael Jordan as its owner.

However, the fact that the team is making him money has some thinking that he is going to become more involved in the day-to-day operations of the team with the thought being that the better the team does the bigger the profile and market value.
Michael Jordan is still recognized as arguably the best basketball player of all time throughout the world but the clothing apparel of his team, in particular the jersey's of his team are not a huge seller worldwide.
A better on-court product will bring Michael Jordan and his Charlotte Hornet players more into the spotlight both nationally and internationally and his recent statements about attracting another superstar player to pair with Al Jefferson suggest that he intends to put more time into making the Charlotte Hornets a winner.
He won championships as a basketball player, he has earned entry into the billionaires club and now there is only one more club for him to join and that is a championship owner of a NBA team.
Michael Jordan is a man whose enhanced investment in the Charlotte Hornets might just be an indication that he believes in the potential of his team and that to some fans represents ... hope for the future on the court to pair with his off-the-court successes thanks to the franchise.
