It has been a long while coming but it looks like we are now going to finally get one of the most eagerly awaited movie sequels for some time. Following the huge success of the 1996 movie Space Jam, which went on to make an impressive $225m worldwide, there has been calls for years for a sequel to finally take place.
The first Space Jam movie saw Michael Jordan being taken by the Looney Toons characters to help them play against a group of alien slavers. Michael has now confirmed that he has signed on to star in Space Jam 2, which is aiming to complete filming ready for a 2016 release to mark the 20th anniversary of Space Jam.
There were initially rumours a while back that a Space Jam sequel was going to get made and that this time around LeBron James would star in the film. However those plans have now been scrapped as Michael Jordan confirmed his interest in the film.
While there is not too much detail yet known about the Space Jam sequel, what we do know is that Michael Jordan is not going to be the only basketball star in the movie. It has also been confirmed that up and coming basketball ace Dante Exum has signed up to play the son of Michael Jordan in the film.
It will be interesting to see why the Looney Toons need Michael Jordan and Dante Exum's help and who they will be going up against this time around. We also cannot wait to see our favourite Looney Toons characters back on the big screen.
