Michael Shannon is set to appear on the big screen as General Zod, in Man of Steel next year but he has admitted that he does not feel worthy of playing the role. Michael claims that he can never live up to the standard of Terence Stamp, who played the same character in the 1980 movie Superman 2.
Shannon explained, "I find that pretty intimidating, honestly. I think he pretty much nailed it. My girlfriend [actress Kate Arrington], had it on. She was watching it out of curiosity. And I saw it and said: 'You've got to turn it off. I can't watch that. I'm not worthy!'"

Michael Shannon recently revealed how he does not believe that General Zod is a nasty person but is, in fact, just doing his job. Michael Shannon has previously admitted that he does not take his fame for granted, as he is fully aware that it can be gone in the blink of an eye.
You can catch Michael Shannon as General Zod, starring alongside Henry Cavill as Superman aka Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Russell Crowe as Jor-El, when Man of Steel is released in both the US and the UK on June 14, 2013.
