Boardwalk Empire actor Michael Shannon did not know exactly what he was getting himself in to, when he agreed to play General Zod in the Superman reboot, Man of Steel. Michael does not read the Superman comics and was surprised by the costume and the suit that he had to wear for his role in the hit DC Comics movie.
Shannon explained, “Everything's skin-tight. The flowy costumes don't really, that's not the style nowadays. There’s two different modes. There’s something that I have to wear a motion-capture suit for, because if I actually wore it, I wouldn’t be able to move. It’s a very big thing. I actually don’t know what it’s going to look like, I just know that it’s very cumbersome. There’s another thing that I wear that’s an actual costume. It’s pretty simple. There’s no paisley or anything.”
Michael Shannon will be appearing alongside Henry Cavill, who is playing Clark Kent aka Superman, Amy Adams, who portrays Lois Lane and Russell Crowe, who plays Jor-El, in the movie Man of Steel. Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder and is currently still in the process of filming, with a release date set for June 14, 2013.
