Actress Michelle Williams is known for her television and movie roles but in 2014 she had decided to take on a new challenge and that is to perform on Broadway. She is currently playing the lead role of Sally Bowles in the Broadway stage production "Cabaret" that was made famous by the talented Liza Minnelli and Michelle Williams in her performances so far is proving that she is an actress who is exceptional as a live performer.
Her recent performance in this Broadway production was on the first preview night and by the end of the show it had become apparent that Michelle Williams had performed spectacularly on opening night. The show is set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis were rising to power and she performed flawlessly alongside Scottish superstar Alan Cumming who returned to the show as the Emcee character.
It is always a concern when an actor decides to take on Broadway for the first time after having achieved success on film and television because one cannot stop and do a scene over but Michelle Williams showed no nerves. At the end of her exceptional performance she had a "smug" look on her face that suggested to some theater and entertainment insiders that her performance quelled some doubts that she had of herself and that she might have heard from others.
Michelle Williams will be playing the lead role in "Cabaret" for 24 weeks with the official opening taking place at Studio 54 on April 24. Following her Broadway performance she will likely finish up any additional filming for her two 2014 movies, the independent movie "The Awakening" which will be released in July 2014 and the romantic drama "Suite Francaise".
Sometimes you have to scare yourself out of your comfort zone to see how great you can become and it seems that Michelle Williams has done this with her Broadway performance.
