Miley Cyrus' image has definitely gone through an upheaval since the actress left her Disney days behind, and she's now opening up about her transformation in an interview with the Fashion Police.
She explains, "It’s called puberty. Everyone’s done it from the beginning of time. I’m just doing it [in the spotlight] so you’re zooming in on it and you’re fascinated by it. I don’t think people understand how I’m a real human being.”
She adds that this has given her the opportunity to champion good causes, adding, "I think if I can just use where I am in my career and use myself as a pedestal to do good — even if it means getting naked, ’cause more people are gonna look at it."
It's certainly true that raunchy images and risque photo shoots seem to gain more attention, and Miley's right in that she can definitely use that to help cancer charities and other causes that are more important to her. However, I don't think Miley's transformation can just be attributed to 'puberty', but rather an increasing freedom and desire to really be seen differently. After all, she was part of the Disney machine for so long that I'm sure it was a relief for her to actually be able to do and say whatever she wanted. And also, her recent relationship troubles with beau Liam Hemsworth probably haven't helped either.
