When it was revealed that X Factor USA judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul would not be returning for the second season of the show, there were plenty of rumours about who would be replacing them. One of those people was Miley Cyrus, who has revealed that she rejected the chance to join the show as she is not a dream crusher.

Cyrus told The Sun, “I just don't know if I want to be some dream crusher. Would you really want to sit there as someone is belting their heart out - even if it is like hearing nails on a chalkboard - and then say to them, 'You suck'?”
Miley also admitted that she would be worried about what she would say to the contestants, especially the ones that had set their hearts on it but were not good enough. She claims that she would feel uncomfortable with how being mean would affect her reputation.

Miley continued, “I have no filter, so I would be scared I would say something and they would go home and say, 'Miley Cyrus ruined my dreams'. It seems harsh.”
While Miley Cyrus turned down the opportunity to be a new judge on The X Factor USA, there were also many other stars who were linked to the show. However, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato were eventually revealed as the new judges.
