It has been reported that Mini are working on getting everything in place in order to enter their very own team into Formula 1 for the 2013 season. They are currently working on the design ideas for the car, as they are hoping to have a familiar Mini feel to their car.
A Mini insider said, “We watch Formula 1 every single season and every car looks exactly the same but just a different colour. Obviously there are different things going on with each teams car but to the untrained eye, you cannot really tell the physical difference from a Red Bull and a HRT car.”
They added, “Our plan is to come up with a car that stays true to the design of our Mini road cars, whilst still adhering to the rules of the FIA. We are making improvements everyday and hope to have a full F1 team set up, ready for the 2013 world championship.”
The news will come as quite a shock to many and it is expected that, even if they do manage to get a Formula 1 team together, they will be struggling at the back of the field, along with the likes of the HRT’s.
