There are some films in Hollywood which you know are going to be hugely successful before they are even released, while there are others that you can be pretty sure are going to flop. Then there are those movies that do not exactly make a huge impact on the box office but then go on to become a cult classic, with millions of fans all over the world.
One such movie, which has gone on to become a cult classic over the years, is the 1997 movie Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, which saw Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow starring in the lead roles. Fans have called for a Romy and Michele's High School Reunion for years now and Mira has come out and told Disney that they should work on making it happen.
Sorvino explained to E! Online, "Me and Lisa [Kudrow] and [creator] Robin [Schiff] would love to do a sequel. We have asked Disney before. It's Disney that has to decide to say yes. I don't think [Disney] realize[s] what a cult phenomenon it has become. I mean, people dress up as us for Halloween! Disney, if you're listening—everybody wants it!"
Romy and Michele's High School Reunion was released way back in 1997 and was made on a budget of just $7.4m. The movie then went on to gross $29m at the US box office, and $34m at the worldwide box office. It will be interesting to see whether Disney take these comments on board or not.
