Mira Sorvino, who won an Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in “Mighty Aphrodite,” but who may be best known for her portrayal of Dr. Susan Tyler in the sci-fi hit “Mimic,” will be joining the cast of “Falling Skies” in its upcoming season. Sorvino will play the new love interest of John Pope, played by Colin Cunningham. Toughen by circumstances; Sara joins the 2nd Mass after meeting John and taking a liking to him.
Although Sorvino is a talented actress, there have been some setbacks in her career. Most recently, a pilot she was working on for the TNT network called “Trooper” failed to be picked up by the network, leaving her free to pursue other interests. She didn’t have to search for long, though, before landing the role in “falling Skies.”
After fighting giant, mutated insects of her own making in “Mimic,” Sorvino should be a natural for the “Falling Skies” role. In “Falling Skies,” survivors of an alien attack on earth fight to regain control of the planet and ensure the survival of the human species.
Sorvino has also starred in such successful films as “Summer of Sam,” “Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion,” “At First Sight,” “Perfect Sisters,” and “Trade of Innocents.”
