Mortal Kombat movie reboot

It has been a very, very long time since the original idea to reboot the Mortal Kombat movie franchise was first discussed. In fact it was around 2004 that the suggestion that it was beginning to make a move was revealed. However, it has gone very quiet since then.

Since 2004, a script has been written, directors have come and gone and even a cast was in place at one point. Yet the film still seems to be lingering in the wilderness. The main stumbling block appears to be the fact that Threshold Entertainment issued a law suit against Warner Bros, citing breach of contract.

That law suit was filed last year and since then it has gone quiet again. However, sources close to the project have claimed that a compromise is close to being agreed and a Mortal Kombat movie reboot is edging ever closer to becoming a reality. If the rumours are to be believed, then Mortal Kombat is likely to hit the big screen sometime in 2014.
