Nadia Petrova, a Russian woman tennis star, resumed her tennis season at the Paris Open tournament after grieving death of mother who died in car accident in December 2013. She lost her first round matches in both the singles and doubles sections of the tournament but she actually won just by being willing to step back onto the court. One of the greatest challenges in life is persevering in the face of great adversity and Nadia Petrova is showing great character and strength by resuming her tennis career in 2014.
Nadia Petrova is one of the best women tennis doubles players on the professional circuit. She is ranked as the third best women's doubles player as she made the finals of several Women's Tennis Association events including the Qatar Open, the the Dubai tournament, the Indian Wells tournament and the Eastbourne tournament which she won with her doubles partner.
Not only is Nadia Petrova a highly ranked doubles player but she is also one of the 50 most searched players on the Women's Tennis Association circuit and is considered a role model for many young tennis players because of her embracing of the philosophy that being physically "strong is beautiful".
Nadia Petrova is known for being one of the strongest players on the women's professional tennis circuit but in 2014 she has shown that she is just as strong if not stronger mentally. In 2014 she has already combined with her new doubles partner, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to reach the semi-finals of the Qatar Open which bodes well for the rest of the tennis season.
Nadia Petrova by returning to the tennis court has taught many young women one of the greatest lessons that can ever be taught: you may get knocked down by adversity but you overcome the pain by getting back up and resuming the occupation that you enjoy the most and in this case, that is playing tennis. Well done Nadia Petrova.
